Arrived in Philly
Arrived Philly...22 hours with very little sleep.
I upgraded my seat on the flight from an center seat (blech) to a window seat. Once everyone had boarded, I found to my joy that NO ONE was sitting in the center seat. Just me and the guy in the isle... Leg room :)
Flight was OK, except for the problems with the IEC (Interactive Entertainment Center). Every so often it went mute for 20 seconds and then rebooted to the first channel. Very annoying. The other problem was the lack of sleep, evidently taking off at 11am is not conducive to sleep at all.
A first at Newark airport; while waiting in line for border control, an attendant called out that a new line was forming. I left my line and joined the new one. the new line was faster than the old one! Take that, Murphy :)
The train from Newark to Philly was supposed to leave at 18:42. At 18:40, the board changed and presented the next train at 21:00.
Slight panic ensued at the platform as we tried to find out how the train had passed us silently and invisibly.
Eventually, it arrived at 18:50...
I was met at the station by Rami and Shvo and we took the (wonderful) scenic route to the apartment.
Shvo insisted that the car ride was faster than the plan - by millions and millions :)
It's quite wonderful to drive through a wild looking forest in the middle of a major city.
The place looks nothing like I'd imagined - every time I saw pictures of them in the park I had assumed that they went somewhere - not that the park was their front yard!
It reminds me of the Manor in the William stories.
The reunion with Jade and Melly was emotional to say the least :D
Had a great supper, unpacked and am falling asleep...
